In 2009 I was awarded a Henry Malouf Scholarship to attend Bathurst College Winter Art School.

During that time, I studied with Mignon Parker, a wonderful and accomplished artist who specialises in works on black canvas, particularly still life pieces.

The week of tuition was exciting and exploratory and left me with an excitement to continue painting in this style for a quite a while. I found it was a way of relaxing and focusing, almost as a way of meditation in art.

While studying for the Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts in 2015 the practice was a release and relief from the rigours of concentration and research.

Tulips and Irises 65cm x 85cm oil on canvas
Blossom and Wattle 65cm x 65 cm oil on canvas
Yellow Irises. 75cm x 75 cm oil on canvas
Blue Irises 75cm x 75cm
Belladonna Lilies 45cm x 45 cm oil on canvas
Abstract Liliums 45cm x 45cm

The resulting collection of paintings completed over the next eight years were exhibited at Wrenwood Gallery in Botanicals in 2018 and I facilitated a workshop to teach this method to students.

Some of the Botanical works have found their way to collectors’ homes.

Sadly six of the works were destroyed in a bushfire which swept through my home in 2019.

Some remain available for collectors.
